Your Questions Answered:

1. What does the free promotion include?

Free cavity wall insulation and or free loft insulation (where there is currently 60mm (21/2 inches) or less) to average sized properties within each property type where at least two thirds of the loft space or cavity walls can be insulated. Rolls of DIY insulation to 'top up' existing loft insulation are available (up to a maximum 100m2) by working with community groups. To register your community to benefit from rolls of DIY insulation please email enquiries@insulatehampshire.co.uk.

2. I have already agreed to a survey before 1 December, will I qualify for the free scheme?
All residents who have not had their insulation installed prior to 1st December 2011 are eligible for the free scheme. Residents will not be eligible for refunds on work completed prior to 1st December 2011.

3. What is the cut-off point for the free offer?
The extension of the free offer has come thanks to increased financial commitment from ScottishPower, the funding partner for Insulate Hampshire. With the extension of the free offer, residents will have until September to join the scheme as it was provisionally free under a Winter Warmer promotion due to end 31st March. Now applications must be received by 30th September 2012, with installations taking place until 30th November 2012. Due to expected high demand, this is subject to availability.

4. What type of insulation is used?
The installers use Knauf superfi mineral fibre for cavity wall insulation and Knauf Earthwool glassfibre quilt loft insulation.

5. How much will installing loft insulation save me?
Installing loft insulation where none currently exists can save up to £175 a year**. You should ‘Top up’ existing loft insulation of 60mm or more to the recommended 270mm to save around £50 a year**.

6. I’ve heard cavity wall insulation can cause damp is this true?
Cavity wall insulation does not cause damp in your home, however it is best to check during the free, technical survey provided that your walls are structurally sound and free from damp before having cavity wall insulation installed. All cavity wall insulation comes with a 25 year industry backed guarantee.

7. What else can Insulate Hampshire offer me?
Insulate Hampshire is helping householders across the county to access subsidised or free home insulation and can also help refer you to a number of community services. These include advice on benefit entitlement and we can even offer advice around installing solar panels on your home!

*The offer does not include potential extras such as additional meterage, scaffolding etc. Two thirds of loft space or cavity must be insulated to qualify. The free technical survey will confirm any additional costs that may be applicable.
