Insulate Hampshire Calling on Residents of Gosport to Do It Themselves

18-07-2012

Insulate Hampshire are teaming up with Gosport Voluntary Action to deliver rolls of DIY insulation to Gosport residents, completely free of charge on Saturday 28th July between 10.00am – 12.30pm at St.Vincents College.

Dozens of Gosport residents are expected to attend and collect rolls of free loft insulation which can help save up to £50 a year on fuel bills.
Insulate Hampshire is the council backed scheme working in partnership with Hampshire County Council and the 11 Districts across Hampshire and with funding from ScottishPower.

Erin Mills, Community Coordinator for Insulate Hampshire urges local residents to register at by emailing her and collect their free insulation from St.Vincents College this July 28th, “Gosport Voluntary Action does a lot of good work around saving energy, it therefore made sense to collaborate with them to reduce Gosport’s carbon footprints and help local residents save money on rising fuel bills together”.

Insulate Hampshire also offers professionally installed cavity wall and loft insulation free of charge to homeowners and private renters within the Hampshire region, where less than 2 ½ inches of loft insulation currently exists (but does not include Portsmouth or Southampton City Council residents). The scheme is unable to offer professionally installed loft insulation free of charge to properties that have more than 2 ½ inches of existing insulation. The partnership between Insulate Hampshire and Gosport Voluntary Action was therefore formed to create a community DIY offer whereby householders can do it their selves for free by collecting from one location.

Customers will be offered rolls up to 100m2 of insulation free of charge.  By topping up to the recommended 270mm Hampshire residents can protect themselves from the cost of rising fuel bills and enjoy a more comfortable home.

Collectively, 40,260 kg of CO2 emissions have been saved from the community schemes so far. But with changes to Government funding resulting in the end of free insulation schemes this year, residents are encouraged to sign up for the 28th July event as soon as possible to ensure their place.  To register for your DIY insulation contact: diy@yorkshireenergyservices.co.uk or visit www.insulatehampshire.co.uk

Hampshire residents interested in the free professionally installed cavity wall insulation should register their interest before 30th September 2012.
