Residents urged to take up £200 bonus offer to insulate their homes

04-10-2012

Time is quickly running out if you want to take advantage of free loft and cavity wall insulation as the deadline for applications is fast approaching.

And, as an added incentive, ScottishPower is offering up to £200 of high street shopping vouchers for installed measures through Insulate Hampshire, to qualifying residents.

Hampshire residents Mr and Mrs Aplin, who recently benefitted from the free insulation offer, were presented with £200 worth of high street shopping vouchers by ScottishPower after they had insulation put into their loft and cavity walls.

Hampshire resident,Mr Aplin commented:

'It was a lovely surprise. We heard about Insulate Hampshire in our local newspaper and saw that it was free and a council project, which is really what made us decide to call. The installer was so tidy and polite, they were surprisingly quick and we're already feeling the benefit - we're positive our bills will reduce this winter because of it.

"When we found out that we were going to receive £200 of vouchers, it was a lovely surprise and we're already looking forward to spending them at Christmas."

Insulate Hampshire is the Hampshire Senate backed scheme working in partnership with Hampshire County Council and the 11 district councils across Hampshire, with funding from ScottishPower. The scheme offers professionally installed cavity wall and loft insulation free of charge to Hampshire homeowners and privately renting tenants (with landlord's permission), where the property qualifies and where there is less than 60mm/2½ inches of loft insulation currently exists. All applications are subject to a free, no obligation, technical survey.

Councillor Ken Thornber, Chairman of the Hampshire Senate and Leader of the County Council commented

"Helping residents, particularly those who are vulnerable or in fuel poverty, to make their homes warmer and save money on heating bills is a priority for the Insulate Hampshire scheme. It is good to hear that residents such as Mr and Mrs Aplin are happy with the insulation work completed in their home, so I would encourage any residents who have not yet taken advantage of this scheme to apply by 30 September 2012, as changes to government funding arrangements mean the free scheme will not be available to those who apply after the deadline."

Insulate Hampshire is also working with local community groups to deliver rolls of DIY loft top-up insulation for residents to collect, free of charge, at pre-organised events.  To find out more about this offer call 0800 952 0037 or email diy@insulatehampshire.co.uk
